Krill oil is good for creative sprints, FYI
or, that time I managed my first animation team while balancing another Freelance Project.
In January 2022, I was getting myself prepared for a freelance gig I had booked for February, when my friend and the Art Director extraordinaire, Michelle Nahmad along side the wonderful team at MindBodyGreen reached out with a somewhat urgent request. They needed design and animation work for their Kori Krill spotlight for their website, and had some of my illustration work as inspo.
They asked me if I could design and animate animate a piece for them, which honestly humbled me. The issue, however, was timing. They needed someone immediately and the deadline was the end of February.
So there I was, caught in what felt like an impossible situation, do I say yes to this REALLY DOPE opportunity, or do I do the responsible thing, say no to the booking. I talked to mentors about it and they said that I should do the latter.
Obviously, I didn't. I talked to my friend and mentor, Amy Wallace who told me, she thinks it's doable if we could make a small team. So I asked, and to my amazement, they said yes.
Recruiting fellow motion bestie, Christine White, I was able to focus on both projects. I designed many of these frames at night and handed them off to Christine and Amy to animate.
